Community Death Announcements

Margaret Cook & Rev. Chris Morton

Dear friends,

I write with a heavy heart this afternoon to share news of the unexpected deaths of two beloved members of our FCC Tacoma community. I invite you to join me in lifting up each of their families and friends for God's comfort and peace in the days and weeks to come.

Romans 8:38-39 reminds us; "...neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." May we find gratitude for the time we have on earth together and be comforted by the love and life eternal into which we are enfolded, long after our bodies die.

In Christ's love,

Pastor Doug

Margaret Cook, beloved partner of Stephen Johnson passed, away this afternoon at St. Joseph's Medical Center. She was transported by ambulance late last night after experiencing a series of troubling symptoms. Margaret underwent emergency open heart surgery early this morning after it was determined she had suffered an aortic valve rupture. Tragically, her body succumbed to the trauma. We lift to God her entire family including Stephen, Margaret's younger sister, and her daughters, Melanie and DeeAnn. Please pray also for traveling mercies for DeeAnn as she makes her way here from Montana.

Cards of sympathy may be sent to Stephen Johnson at 4220 80th Ave. W. University Place, WA, 98466. Details on her memorial service are forthcoming as her family makes arrangements.

Rev. Chris Morton, Regional Minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon. Chris was an active member of the FCC community during his time in Tacoma, advocating for our marginalized neighbors through his work at Associated Ministries. Please keep his partner Julie, his children Luc and Amy, and the rest of his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Cards of sympathy may be sent c/o The Christian Church in Nebraska, P.O. Box 337, Lincoln, NE, 68506.
