This week's community joys and concerns from March 26, 2023

Joys

Among the joys in our community and beyond,

  • We give thanks for the youth of this congregation, for the bonds that are forming, and for all the ways God is expanding this community and inviting us to get to know more of God's beloved children in this world

  • Chuck Blaisdell, husband of our former Sr. Pastor, recently received good news regarding his ongoing treatment for small intestine cancer. You can read the full update by clicking here.

Concerns

We continue praying for:

  • Pat McDaniel

  • Bear, Mel Peabody's partner

  • Kim King, sister-in-law of Sandy King

  • Rachel Morford

Our community is washed afresh with grief this morning with news of the death of two of our beloved:

  • We lift up all the family and loved ones of September Peterson, who died this week after a resurgent battle with cancer.

  • And we also lift up all the loved ones and family of Mark Housman, who died yesterday morning in the presence of family.

We give God thanks for the lives of September and Mark, and we ask for God's healing presence for all of us who mourn. We give thanks for God's love for each of them and for each of us as we cling to one another for comfort and as God welcomes them home to a place where pain and suffering is no longer.

Among our local and global community concerns:

  • We pray for the community of Rolling Fork, Mississippi in the aftermath of a tornado that has so far taken the lives of 26 people. We pray for first responders, for those left without a home, for the agencies and organizations on the ground providing support and relief, and for those washed afresh with grief.

  • The Village on 6th and Orchard

  • For our Global Ministries partners, this week in Guadalajara.
