This week's community joys and concerns - Jan. 27, 2023

Joys

Among the joys in our community and beyond,

  • We give thanks for the gift of community that is blossoming around us, most especially for each of our youth as they form a bond, and for our adult chaperones helping them do so, Peter Wright, Cassie Tripp and Pastor Doug.

  • All middle and high school youth are welcome to join for us Thursday from 6-7pm for pizza, community, and a heck of a lotta fun! Contact Pastor Doug to learn more.

Concerns

Among our congregational community Concerns,

  • We lift up Mark Housman, recovering in the hospital from his heart surgery on Wednesday (1/25).

We continue praying for:

  • Charlene Housman

  • Mel Peabody

  • Mel Peabody's partner, Bear

  • Rachel Morford

  • September Peterson

  • And for our homebound friends, Helen Bosley, Harry and Margaret Lobberegt, Jane Nelson, Marylu and Joseph Mills and Jim and Kay Thompson and Lenora Cook.

Among our local and global community concerns:

  • For the community of Goshen, California in the wake of yet another mass shooting, the Parraz family, from whom three generations of family members were cut short. We pray for the hearts of all whose souls are hurting, and for the courage to advocate for all that needs to change - in our in our laws, in our culture, in our society, in our very faith, that we shall live the Gospel imperative for peace and do all we can to end gun violence and to study the ways of war no more.

  • We pray for our neighbors experiencing homelessness, in Tacoma and around the world. We pray for a fire to be lit underneath us all, from each of us, all the way to our legislators and lawmakers, that we would find the issue of homelessness to be OUR issue, and that we would continue to work together to help and treat ALL our neighbors as if they were God in the flesh.

  • For our Global Ministries partners, this week in India
